An initial engineering phase is set to explore feasibility boundaries.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-222 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kkrueger.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Unbenannt.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"637\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kkrueger.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Unbenannt.png 637w, https:\/\/www.kkrueger.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Unbenannt-300x141.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Based on a preliminary product design the main objectives of the engineering phase are to<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>validate the product for production compatibility<\/li>\n<li>based on a product breakdown analysis create a stepwise production scheme (i.e. a joining tree)<\/li>\n<li>detect clusters to create subparts for production scaleability and production depth definition<\/li>\n<li>find a balance between field space needs, production depth, automatic\/manual production, target volume and profitability<\/li>\n<li>define deviation boundaries for product design to ensure production compatibility for the final product<\/li>\n<li>identify the flexibility needed (throughput, possible variants, tool change times, integration of additional products)<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">estimate the cost (investment, rampup, running production)\u00a0of each option<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">set the project schedule, harmonized with all associated departments<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);\">create production requirement specifications for procurement phase<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Besides the drafting skills of your production planners and material flow simulation, communication to product development is key at this stage. Understanding the future product is your planning foundation. Understanding product design issues at this early stage tells you where your planning needs flexibility and where 3rd party decisions might be necessary.<\/p>\n<p>At a later stage during this phase your customer&#8217;s \/ board&#8217;s approval becomes important. \u00a0For example decisions need to be taken on product and site layout options, production depth and amount of manual labor.
